Borivali school criticized: Headmaster says send wife
Mumbai, December 23: A school principal in Mumbai has allegedly told a student's father to send his wife to him if he cannot pay the fees. In recent times, fees in private schools have become exorbitant. Similarly, a private school in Mumbai had also hiked the fees excessively. The answer given by the principal to the student's father who went to question it left him shocked.
The principal's words to a father who went to question him about the fee hike, "Send your wife to me," have sparked outrage. Parents had gathered at Borivali's Vitti International School to question the revised fees. The allegations were made during this time.
In a video that is being widely circulated online, a woman has narrated her allegations against the school's principal. The clip has led to heavy criticism online, with netizens demanding action against the principal. For Class 1, he is asking for a fee of Rs 2,20,000.
The parents explained that even after the revision, it is Rs 2,05,000. This is an increase of 48 per cent, they said. Last year, we had paid Rs 2 lakh from the first year. Now, they said, 10 per cent tax has been levied on it.
The parents alleged that the school principal is asking them to send their wives to him if they are unable to pay the increased school fees. They said that the Maharashtra Education Department has formed an inquiry committee to investigate the allegations of unauthorized fee hike. An official inquiry has been initiated against Vitti International School and the matter is being taken seriously through the necessary administrative process.
