Boycotts in ICC tournaments in the past
It is known that the Pakistan government boycotted the World Cup match that was supposed to be played against India. However, the cancellation of matches in international cricket tournaments is not new. Similar incidents have occurred in the past. In the 1996 World Cup, Australia and West Indies refused to play in Sri Lanka due to security reasons. As a result, Sri Lanka received a walkover. In the 2003 World Cup, England boycotted the match against Zimbabwe, and New Zealand boycotted the match against Kenya.
