Disaster caused by a glacier in Nepal
China stated that a glacier in Nepal was the cause of the flash flood that struck the country on Wednesday. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian stated on Friday that, according to a preliminary study by their researchers, a massive artificial lake formed after a section of a high-altitude glacier near the Tibet-Nepal border suddenly collapsed into the Lende Khola River. He explained that the lake burst after accumulating a vast amount of water, causing a sudden, high-speed surge into the Bhotekoshi River.
