Industrial production slows down
New Delhi: Industrial production in the country has slowed down slightly. The Index of Industrial Production (IIP) fell to 4.9 percent in April this year. This was due to the poor performance of the energy sector in the wake of the crisis in West Asia. The IIP was recorded at 5.7 in April 2025. These are the first figures released after the Union Statistics Ministry changed the base year for evaluating IIP data from 2011-12 to 2022-23. This is the tenth time that the Center has changed the IIP base year.
