Trade deal... protection for our farmers!
Several agricultural products have been excluded from the trade deal with the United States. The existing rules will continue for corn, wheat, rice, soy, poultry, milk, cheese, ethanol (fuel), tobacco, various vegetables, and meat exported from the US. There will be no tariff discounts on these products. Concerns were raised that reducing tariffs on US agricultural products would have a significant impact on Indian farmers. Consequently, agricultural and dairy products were not included in the deal.
