PM Modi wrote on his social media handle, "President Trump, thank you for your phone call and warm Diwali wishes. On this festival of lights, may our two great democracies continue to be a beacon of hope to the world and remain united against terrorism in all its forms." This phone conversation between Narendra Modi and Donald Trump comes at a time when US-India relations are strained over trade tariffs and other issues. He described this as a major step in efforts to isolate Moscow over the Ukraine war. However, India dismissed this statement, clarifying that no such conversation had taken place. India's Foreign Ministry had stated that "there was no phone call between the two leaders."
