T20 WorldCup 2026 : Team India has been officially announced today for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 to be held in India and Sri Lanka in the months of February-March. The selection committee comprising Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar and Captain Suryakumar Yadav at the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai finalized the final 15-member squad after long deliberations. The press conference started a little late as Suryakumar Yadav came late after finishing the match against South Africa in Ahmedabad yesterday. Compared to the team that won the 2024 World Cup, there have been huge changes in Team India this time. After the retirement of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja... around seven new faces are going to appear in this mega tournament. It is a good thing that veteran Akshar Patel has been entrusted with the vice-captaincy duties along with trust in the young players. Along with the World Cup, the same teams have been selected for the series against New Zealand next month. India squad announced for World Cup : Suryakumar Yadav (captain), Akshar Patel (vice-captain), Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson, Tilak Verma, Hardik Pandya, Shivam Dubey, Rinku Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, Arshadeep Singh, Harshit Rana, Washington Sundar, Ishan Kishan, Kuldeep Yadav, Varun Chakraborty. In this selection, Yashaswi Jaiswal and Rinku Singh were hotly debated, but Rinku was included in the main team and Jaiswal was kept as a reserve player. Also, Nitish Kumar Reddy and Ryan Parag, who shone in the IPL, were also selected as backup players. Varun Chakraborty and Ravi Bishnoi have been invited to the team by the selectors with more emphasis on the spin department as the matches are going to be held at the home ground.
