Amaravati Capital Bill Reaches Rajya Sabha
New Delhi: The bill granting statutory status to Amaravati as the capital of Andhra Pradesh was approved by the Lok Sabha on Wednesday. Subsequently, the bill reached the Rajya Sabha. The Secretary-General of the Rajya Sabha announced in New Delhi today that the bill has been received by the Upper House. He clarified that the bill would be tabled in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday for its approval. Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Nityanand Rai, is scheduled to introduce the bill—which grants statutory recognition to Amaravati as the capital—in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday.
