Did you know that the world's highest mountain, Mount Everest, was once under the sea? Millions of years ago, where the Himalayas are now, there was a sea called 'Tethys'. That is why fossils of marine organisms such as 'ammonites' and limestone are found in the rocks found on Everest. Scientists say that this is the strongest evidence that the land was once under the sea.
