Hyderabad: The Telangana Electricity Regulatory Commission (ERC) has given the green signal for a 1,500 MW Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) to be established at two locations in the state. ERC Chairman Justice Devaraju issued orders to this effect. Telangana Genco had invited tenders to set up BESS units with a capacity of 750 MW each at Maheswaram and Choutuppal; Saras Infrastructure and Coal India came forward for the project. Genco awarded the contract to these two companies after they submitted the lowest bids.
