Ghatotkachu's sacrifice in Kurukshetra was unparalleled. The reason for this was to save Arjuna from the invincible 'Vasavi Shakti' possessed by Karna. While Ghatotkachu was crushing the Kaurava army with his powers in the war, Karna had no choice but to use that power on Ghatotkachu.
