Gold and Silver Imports Hit a New Record
In the 2025-26 fiscal year, the value of gold and silver imports into the country has reached an all-time high. Compared to the previous year, the value of gold imports rose to $71.98 billion. However, in terms of volume, it declined by 4.76% to 721.03 tonnes. The value of silver imports surged by 150% to reach $12 billion (7,344.96 tonnes). Meanwhile, the Central Government issued orders extending the authorization for 15 banks to import gold and silver until March 2029.
