Tokyo: Interest rates have begun to rise in Japan as well. The Bank of Japan (BoJ), the country's central bank, announced an increase in its key interest rate from the current 1% to 1.25%. This marks the first time in 31 years that interest rates in Japan have reached such a high level. It is believed that the BoJ took this decision due to mounting inflationary pressures and the hiking of key interest rates by central banks in the US and the European Union.
