Andhra Pradesh: Amidst scorching summer temperatures, there has been an immense surge in demand for lemons across the country. At the Podalakur market in Nellore district, the price of a single bag (80 kg) of lemons hit a record high of ₹10,000. While the price per kilogram stood between ₹8 and ₹10 in January, it has now skyrocketed to ₹125. Atluri Prabhakar Reddy, Secretary of the Lemon Merchants Association, stated that prices have never reached such levels in the last ten years. He added that, depending on the quality, the price per bag could potentially rise by another ₹2,000 to ₹3,000.
