Nashik's 'Fake Baba' — Even a Pregnant Woman Was Not Spared
The misdeeds of Ashok Kharat—a "fake baba" from Nashik, Maharashtra—are coming to light one by one. He brutally raped a pregnant woman after convincing her that performing certain rituals would ensure the birth of a healthy child. He also lured another young woman into submission by promising her that she would find a suitable marriage match. Now, additional cases have been registered against this fraudulent baba, who has already been arrested. Furthermore, he shamelessly exploited the vulnerabilities of his devotees by selling tamarind seeds—which typically cost ₹100 per kilogram—as precious gemstones, charging ₹10,000 for a single seed.
