Congress senior leader Sonia Gandhi stated that the party does not oppose the reservation of 33 percent of seats for women in the Lok Sabha and State Legislative Assemblies. However, she asserted that conducting a delimitation exercise based on incomplete data—prior to the 2027 census—would be inappropriate. She characterized this move as an assault on the Constitution. She demanded that the 'Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam' Amendment Bill be introduced during the Monsoon Session of Parliament, rather than between April 16 and 18.
