Chennai: The Supreme Court expressed concern over the introduction of a third language in the ninth grade as part of the CBSE curriculum. It stated that this would increase mental stress among students preparing for board exams. The Court suggested that introducing it in the fifth or sixth grade would give students time to adapt. On Thursday, a bench comprising Justice B.V. Nagarathna and Justice R. Mahadevan orally asked the Centre not to introduce a third language in the ninth grade.
