Pumped-Storage Hydropower to Enter the Open Market!
Hyderabad: The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) has proposed including pumped-storage hydroelectric plants in the list of power plants eligible to sell electricity at higher prices in the open market. To this end, the Commission has issued an order inviting feedback from relevant stakeholders. Currently, only gas-based power plants, power plants running on imported coal, and battery energy storage systems are permitted to sell electricity at higher prices in the ‘High-Price Day-Ahead Market.’
