Hyderabad: A fifth-grade student cannot even read text aloud, and a tenth-grade student lacks basic knowledge of English—these are the findings from surveys regarding the proficiency levels of students in government schools. Yogita Rana, Principal Secretary of the Education Department, stated that the state government has initiated special measures aimed at transforming this situation. They explained that special attention is being paid to ensuring that even second-grade students in the state can read, write, comprehend, and perform basic arithmetic operations like addition, subtraction, and division.
