Reins to Heirs in Ten Years
New Delhi: Sunil Mittal, Chairman of the private telecom company Bharti Airtel, has announced his succession plan. Mittal stated that he intends to hand over the reins of Bharti Airtel to his children within the next ten years. Furthermore, he mentioned that there are plans to increase the stake held by the promoter entity—Bharti Telecom—in Airtel back to over 50 percent within the next 3 to 4 years. As of the end of this March, Bharti Telecom held a 40.47 percent stake in Airtel.
