New Delhi: The Supreme Court has directed the Central Government to respond to a petition seeking a ban on the sale of liquor in Tetra packs and sachets (small packets). Chief Justice of India (CJI) Justice Surya Kant observed that selling liquor in such packaging constitutes a deceptive practice. A bench led by the Chief Justice of India (CJI)—comprising Justice Joymalya Bagchi and Justice Vipul M. Pancholi—has admitted for hearing a petition filed by the NGO 'Community Against Drunken Driving' (CADD).
