New Delhi:** The Supreme Court has ordered a ‘status quo’ regarding the dispute in Akividu, West Godavari district, concerning the construction and subsequent demolition of religious structures on government land. The Court directed that the *status quo* (the existing state of affairs) be maintained in the disputed area until the next hearing. The court issued notices to the Government of Andhra Pradesh and other respondents, directing them to file a counter-affidavit regarding this matter. On the 6th of this month, Jayanthi Unmattha filed a Special Leave Petition (SLP) in the Supreme Court, challenging the verdict delivered by the Andhra Pradesh High Court concerning the Akividu structures dispute.
