Surekha introduced 'women power' to the railways
Surekha Yadav (Maharashtra), who overcame the questions and obstacles of becoming the first woman loco pilot in Asia, has retired. She has become a role model for many women in her extraordinary journey. Her journey, which began as an assistant loco pilot in 1988, progressed to driving the Deccan Queen trains. Her career will remain a symbol of women empowerment in Indian Railways.
