The goal of the mission was to intercept Kim Jong-un's communication system
Washington / New York: US President Donald Trump had launched a very dangerous secret US operation against North Korea's Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un. However, that operation failed. A report in America's leading newspaper New York Times (NYT) has made a sensational disclosure that America's special naval force SEAL Team 6 had carried out a high-risk secret mission by infiltrating North Korea in early 2019. The purpose of this mission was to intercept the communication system of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. An electronic device was to be installed there to intercept Kim Jong's call, but this mission failed when the team of American commandos found a common civilian boat of North Korea.
This SEAL Team 6 killed Osama bin Laden
The SEAL Team 6 that Trump sent to North Korea to carry out the dangerous mission against Kim Jong is the same team... which killed Al-Qaeda founder and dreaded international terrorist Osama bin Laden in 2011. This secret US mission in North Korea against Kim Jong was carried out at a time when Pyongyang was involved in high-level nuclear talks with President Donald Trump's first government in 2019.
SEAL Team 6 shot North Korean sailors during the mission
According to the report, North Korean sailors were shot during the mission, although they were unarmed and were collecting items like seaweed. As soon as the mission failed, the US SEALs immediately returned safely under the retreat plan. The report included more than two dozen people, including former Trump administration officials, civilian bureaucrats and current and former military personnel. The New York Times has made this disclosure based on the details received from the interviews of the same officials.
Trump said: "I have no information"
As soon as this mission was revealed, there was a stir in the whole world including North Korea. When Trump was asked about this mission, he said, "I don't know anything about it. I am hearing it for the first time."
Why was the mission started?
In 2018, US intelligence agencies made a new proposal to the White House, in which a new electronic device should be installed to intercept the North Korean leader's communication system.
Trump approved the preparation for the mission in fall 2018. After this, SEAL Team 6 practiced for several months in US water areas and prepared to carry out the mission in early 2019.
What was the plan of the mission?
Under this secret mission, a nuclear-powered submarine was to be sent near the North Korean waters. Then the SEALs aboard two mini-submarines would be sent to the shore. There, they would secretly install the communication device and return. However, when the team saw a small North Korean boat in which some people were lighting up with torches and talking, the team felt that their presence was sensed. Then the mission was immediately terminated.
Did North Korea come to know about this?
It is not yet clear whether the North Korean government was informed about this mission or not. But the Pentagon has refused to comment on this. Donald Trump had three historic meetings with Kim Jong-un. These include meetings in Singapore in June 2018, Hanoi in February 2019 and Panmunjom (Korean border) in June 2019. According to the New York Times, the SEAL team was confident that they could carry out the mission, as they did in a secret mission in 2005, when they entered the North Korean border through a mini-submarine and returned without being caught.
