The Maharashtra government has directed strict compliance with the Shops and Establishments (Regulation of Employment and Service Conditions) Act, 2017. This means that all shops and organizations can now remain open seven days a week. Employees will be required to have one day off a week. Employees will be required to have a continuous 24-hour week off. Establishments that serve and sell alcohol, such as bars, dance bars, hookah parlors, and discotheques, will not be able to remain open 24 hours a day. All other establishments are permitted to remain open 24 hours a day. The local administration and police department will be responsible for enforcing the order.
