US Debt Hits ₹3,896 Lakh Crore
The United States is breaking its own records regarding debt; as of the 19th of this month, the US debt has reached a staggering ₹3,896 lakh crore. Notably, while the debt stood at ₹3,733 lakh crore ($39 billion) in March of this year, the country incurred an additional debt of approximately ₹163 lakh crore ($1.7 trillion) in just five months. US Treasury sources revealed that the rise in borrowing was driven by a massive increase in defense spending—linked to the conflict involving Iran—as well as the need to fund welfare programs and pay interest on existing debt.
