Why is Lord Rama called ‘Kodanda Rama’?
The name of Lord Rama’s bow is Kodandam. It is said to be made of bamboo. It weighs a hundred kilos. According to the legend, he wore it to kill demons in the forest of Dandakaranyam during his exile. The Kodanda arrow he fired when he was angry with Samudra was invincible. Lord Rama killed Ravana and his army with this Kodanda bow and established Dharma. That is why he is called ‘Kodanda Rama’.
