Why the Cuts to NHM Employees' Salaries?
Hyderabad: Kalvakuntla Kavitha, President of the Telangana Rakshana Sena, questioned why the salaries of National Health Mission (NHM) employees are being cut, despite the receipt of central funding. Speaking to the media at her party office on Sunday alongside leaders of the NHM Employees' Joint Action Committee (JAC), she described the reduction of salaries—by as much as ₹4,000 to ₹5,000—for the state’s 17,000 NHM employees as an act of cruelty. She demanded to know how the authorities could justify slashing employees' wages at a time when inflation is driving up the cost of living.
