Women only 10 percent in the legislatures!
The ADR report revealed that out of 4,666 MPs/MLAs in the country, women make up 10% (464). Out of 543 LS MPs, 74 (14%) are women. Out of 4,123 MLAs, 390 (9%) are women. The BJP (31), Congress (13) and Trinamool (11) have the highest number of women MPs. The number of women candidates in elections has increased significantly. In 1957, there were 45 women in the LS polls, but in 2024, it reached 800.
