'Youth' end up in jail
Telangana: The majority of those caught in drug use, POCSO cases, and drunk driving cases are young people. The Prisons Department report states that in 2025, 42,566 people went to jail in various cases, of whom 19,413 were between 18 and 30 years old. This is a whopping 13% higher compared to 2024. It revealed that 40,090 people served jail time for the first time. It also stated that 3,634 prisoners were released last year.
