The story of the rise of Bangladesh
In the year 1970-71, atrocities and open massacres were increasing in East Pakistan. At that time, Pakistani General Yahya Khan continued to massacre common people in East Pakistan through his repressive military regime. Then Sheikh Mujibur Rahman inspired the common people to fight and formed the Mukti Bahini Army. He asked for help from India. After this, former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi allowed the Indian Army to go to war to save the people of East Pakistan from the brutality of Pakistan. India fought against Pakistan by supporting the Bengali nationalist group in Bangladesh's freedom struggle in East Pakistan. In this war, Pakistan finally had to face a crushing defeat.
Indian soldiers showed bravery
Before the rise of Bangladesh, the Indian Army launched Operation Trident on 4 December 1971. In this war, the Indian Army retaliated against the Pakistani Army and on 16 December 1971, Bangladesh was born as a new nation. In this battle, the Indian Army forced the surrender of Pakistan Army Commander General Amir Abdullah Khan Niazi on 16 December 1971. After this the Commander General formally surrendered to the joint forces of India and Bangladesh Liberation Army. Around 93,000 Pakistani soldiers surrendered during this period, the largest military surrender since World War II. India surrendered 93,000 thousand Pakistanis along with their weapons and showed the strength of the army in front of the world.
