New York: Carlos Alcaraz, making a comeback after recovering from an injury, advanced with ease, while top seed Aryna Sabalenka—aiming for a hat-trick of titles—along with Iga Świątek and Naomi Osaka, also stormed into the second round of the US Open. In the men's singles first round on Tuesday, second seed Alcaraz defeated Roman Safiullin in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4. In the women's singles, Sabalenka beat Camila Osorio 6-2, 6-4.
