Ambani Forgoes Salary for the Sixth Consecutive Year
Mukesh Ambani, Asia's second-wealthiest individual, has not drawn a single rupee in salary from his company, Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), for the sixth consecutive year. Currently, his sole source of income is the dividends he receives as a shareholder in the company. Ambani, who had capped his annual salary as RIL Chairman at ₹15 crore for 11 consecutive years—from the 2008-09 financial year through 2019-20—completely waived his remuneration starting from the 2020-21 financial year, in light of the impact of the COVID-19 crisis on the company's business operations.
