Caller ID Facility to be Introduced from the 1st of Next Month
New Delhi: The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has issued an order making the 'Caller ID' facility mandatory, effective from November 1. The name of the caller—as registered with their respective telecom operator—will be displayed on the recipient's phone. This feature will be available completely free of charge, without the need for any third-party applications. The DoT expects this measure to help curb the nuisance of spam calls. According to the order issued on October 13, "This facility is already being implemented on a pilot basis."
