China has banned door handles, now steering wheels!
China has tightened vehicle safety standards. While flush door handles were recently banned, it has recently banned half steering wheels. The new rules will come into effect from January 1, 2027. The steering system is responsible for 46% of the injuries sustained by drivers in accidents. Half steering is increasing in severity. There have been more incidents of flush handles not opening in accidents. This is why they have been banned.
