Danger in 'Gym' Wear
There has been a growing trend among gym-goers to wear tight-fitting synthetic clothing (activewear) for the sake of comfort. However, experts warn that phthalates—chemicals used in the manufacture of such garments—can adversely affect the body's hormonal system. They advise, "A lack of breathability in these fabrics causes body temperature to rise, placing increased stress on the skin. This can lead to fungal infections and rashes. Therefore, it is advisable to opt for loose-fitting cotton clothing instead."
