Delhi-NCR weather update: Cold weather continues with sunshine.
New Delhi: Several states across India, including Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, are experiencing severe cold weather and dense fog. Meanwhile, snowfall is occurring in the hilly regions. According to the Meteorological Department, minimum temperatures in Northwest India are likely to gradually fall by 2-4°C over the next two days. Minimum temperatures in East India may also fall by 2-3°C over the next three days.
Cold Day Alert in These States
According to the Meteorological Department, very dense fog is highly likely during the night and morning hours until December 31st in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Bihar, East Uttar Pradesh, East Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Punjab. These states will also experience severe cold. The Meteorological Department has issued a cold wave warning for these states. In addition, the northeastern states of Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura are also experiencing severe cold and dense fog. No relief from the dense fog is expected here until December 27th.
Lowest Temperature Recorded in Sikar
Temperatures of 5°-10°C were recorded at several places in Uttarakhand, East Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Punjab, West Rajasthan, and Central Maharashtra. Temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius are also being recorded at some places in Madhya Pradesh, East Rajasthan, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and Jharkhand. The lowest minimum temperature in the plains of India was recorded at 5.0°C in Sikar (East Rajasthan).
Rain and Snowfall Alert
Light rain and snowfall are possible in Jammu and Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh. Rain with strong winds is possible in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Weather Forecast for Delhi-NCR Today
The weather in Delhi-NCR will be clear today, Thursday, with sunshine during the day. The maximum and minimum temperatures in Delhi are expected to be between 21°C and 23°C and 5°C and 7°C respectively. Light winds are blowing during the morning hours. This has prevented the formation of dense fog. Winds may reach speeds of 12 kilometers per hour during the day. The sky will be partly cloudy on Friday. Light to moderate fog is expected in many areas in the morning, with dense fog in a few isolated locations.
