Focus on Suspected Foreigners During 'SSR'!
New Delhi: The Election Commission of India has issued key directives to state administrations regarding the Special Summary Revision (SSR) of electoral rolls. It stated that if any suspected foreigners are identified during the SSR process, such cases must be reported to the relevant authorities responsible for enforcing the Citizenship Act, 1955. The Commission clarified that Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) should independently exercise the powers of an Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) in this matter.
