Former Union Minister passes away
Senior BJP leader and former Union Minister Kabindra Purkayastha (94) has passed away. He breathed his last while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Silchar (Assam) due to health problems. Born in 1931, he won as a Lok Sabha MP in 1991, 1998, and 2009. He played a key role in the formation of the BJP. He served as the Union Minister of Communications during Vajpayee's tenure. Prime Minister Modi tweeted expressing his condolences on Kabindra's death.
