Fresh Petitions Permitted Regarding ‘SER’ Vote Discrepancies
The Supreme Court has delivered a significant ruling regarding petitions filed by Mamata Banerjee and others concerning the deletion of votes in West Bengal through the Special Summary Revision (SER) process. The apex court has now granted them the opportunity to file fresh petitions. The Court took cognizance of the Trinamool Congress's (TMC) contention that in 31 Assembly constituencies, the winning margin was lower than the number of votes deleted during the SER process, resulting in prejudice to their interests.
