Gucchi mushrooms cost Rs. 40,000 per kg... Where do they grow?
Gucchi mushrooms (Morels/Morchella esculenta) naturally grow during the snowmelt season, at the end of winter. They are found in the regions of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Jammu and Kashmir. Morels grow in damp soil, under fallen leaves, and in dense forests. Due to their use in traditional medicine, expensive cuisine, and international demand, they fetch prices ranging from Rs. 30,000 to Rs. 40,000 per kg. They are found in small quantities after searching for weeks in dense forest areas.
