Malayappa Swamy on the Grand Chariot
Tirumala: As part of the annual *Salakatla Brahmotsavams* of Lord Venkateswara, the grand chariot procession (*Maharathotsavam*) took place with great splendor on Tuesday morning. In the early hours, following prescribed *Agama* rituals within the temple, Lord Malayappa Swamy—accompanied by his consorts Sridevi and Bhudevi—was seated upon the *Maharatham* (a massive wooden chariot). The Lord, along with his consorts, was taken in a procession through the temple streets, bestowing blessings upon the multitude of devotees. Devotees gathered in the galleries offered *Neerajanam* (ritual salutations with lamps) to Lord Srinivasa at every step of the chariot's journey.
