Mojtaba Khamenei Video Goes Viral Amid Health Reports
While reports regarding the critical condition of Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei had previously caused a stir, a video of him is now rapidly going viral. This video was released by Iranian media. In the footage released by the Mehr News Agency, Mojtaba appears to be in good health and is seen conversing with his associates. Russian state media outlet RT.com also released the video, citing Iran's Mehr News Agency.
Earlier on Friday, Israeli media reports had claimed that Khamenei's condition was "very critical." Citing sources within Iran and referencing an older report by *The Jerusalem Post*, Channel 14 reported that concerns regarding his health were spreading within the Iranian leadership. A source for *The Jerusalem Post* had claimed, "We would not be surprised if we received news of his martyrdom soon."
Khamenei assumed the role of Supreme Leader on February 28, immediately following the assassination of his father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in attacks by the US and Israel. Since taking office, he has not appeared in public and has communicated solely through written statements.
Reports suggest that he was injured—and possibly suffered facial disfigurement—during the initial attacks targeting his father's compound; this forced him into hiding and compelled him to communicate with senior government officials through a network of intermediaries to avoid being targeted. Meanwhile, President Masoud Pezeshkian acknowledged in a state television interview that direct communication with Khamenei is currently "very difficult."
International and regional reports have repeatedly raised questions regarding his physical location and capacity to function. In July, the Saudi news outlet Al-Hadath, citing an Israeli security source, claimed that Khamenei was not in Iran. Around the same time, US President Donald Trump stated in a Fox News interview that Iran's top military leadership had been eliminated, claiming that following the military campaign, Khamenei was "90% gone" and incapacitated.
**Completely Absent from Public View**
While Iranian government officials initially downplayed the severity of his initial injuries, the continued absence of live appearances or direct public addresses has fueled intense speculation—both regionally and internationally—regarding his health and the stability of his leadership. Western and opposition intelligence sources have frequently maintained that he sustained serious or debilitating injuries, causing him to vanish entirely from live public view and rely solely on written statements.
Conversely, Iranian government officials have offered a different narrative. A representative from Iran's Health Ministry previously described his initial injuries as superficial, and senior officials have stated that he will continue to provide strategic oversight and operational directives for the country.
