New Income Tax Act from today
The new IT Act will come into effect from today. With this, the HRA of employees in Hyderabad, which is currently 40% of the basic salary, will be increased to 50%. From now on, employer details must be submitted while claiming HRA. TDS will be applicable if annual interest income exceeds ₹50,000. Children's hostel bill exemption will increase from ₹300 to ₹9,000. Tax exemption limit for annual gifts given to employees will increase from ₹5,000 to ₹15,000.
