New rules in cricket: In a stumping, merely touching the ball with the hand is not enough!
The MCC, which determines the rules of cricket, has made some key changes. When making a run-out or stumping, merely touching the ball with the hand is not enough; there must be complete control over it. In Test cricket, even if a wicket falls in the last over of the day, that over must be completed. Also, the keeper's gloves only need to be behind the stumps after the ball is released, not from the bowler's run-up. These changes will come into effect from October 2026.
