No-confidence motion against the Speaker... only if there is a majority!
It is learned that the opposition parties will introduce a no-confidence motion against Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla today. To introduce a resolution under Article 94-C, a notice must be given 14 days in advance. After the notice is given with the support of 50 members of the House, it will be scheduled for discussion. The discussion and voting will be held within 10 days. Disqualification will be based on a majority vote. However, since the NDA has a majority in the Lok Sabha, the removal of the Speaker is impossible.
