Winds will blow at speeds of up to 50 kilometers per hour. According to the IMD, heavy rain is expected in Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, and the hilly northern states. A heavy rain alert has also been issued for several states on Monday (October 6th). According to the Meteorological Department, Delhi may experience light rain on Sunday. Along with this, heavy rains are expected until Tuesday (October 7) with strong winds of up to 50 kilometers per hour. Temperatures will drop During this period, cold northwesterly winds are expected to cause a significant drop in temperatures. Temperatures may gradually drop well before the onset of winter from the second week of October. A Meteorological Department official said, "Night temperatures will drop immediately after this western disturbance passes, as cold northwesterly winds will begin blowing from the hills to the plains." Heavy Monsoon Rains This Year Parts of Delhi recorded about 10 percent more rainfall than normal in September, the highest since August 2010, when it was the wettest. Overall, Delhi-NCR received above-average monsoon rainfall this year.
