PTI supporters celebrate Imran's birthday in Lahore
Lahore: Jailed former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan turned 73 on Sunday. The Pakistani government is now preparing to tighten its grip on him further. The government has demanded that his X account be blocked for posting "anti-national" content, a minister said on Sunday. Meanwhile, supporters of Imran's Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party celebrated their leader's 73rd birthday in Lahore and elsewhere on Sunday. Imran has been incarcerated in Rawalpindi's Adiala Jail for more than two years on corruption charges and other charges.
"Who is running Imran's 'X' account?"
Federal Minister of State for Law, Barrister Aqeel Malik, said in an interview with a TV channel on Sunday, "We have contacted the company's management, demanding that Imran Khan's 'X' account be blocked for posting anti-national, especially anti-army, tweets." Malik said, "We have also launched an investigation to find out who is running Imran's 'X' account and who is posting anti-national messages from it." He said the government will soon uncover the network behind this.
PTI supporters held a rally, raised slogans
Meanwhile, PTI supporters held a rally outside Imran's Zaman Park residence in Lahore on his 73rd birthday, raising slogans in his favor. Police were deployed at Zaman Park to prevent any rally in support of Imran. However, the rally participants did not attempt to march towards the former prime minister's residence. The main cake-cutting ceremony was held in Lahore and was attended by PTI leaders Salman Akram Raja, Shaukat Basra, and Rehaba Dar.
