New Delhi: The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has issued an order making the 'Caller ID' facility mandatory, effective from November 1. The name of the caller—as registered with their respective telecom operator—will be displayed on the recipient's phone. This feature will be available completely free of charge, without the need for any third-party applications. The DoT expects this move to help curb the menace of spam calls. According to the order issued on October 13, "This facility is already being implemented on a pilot basis.
