Questions Raised Over Injuries to Key Athletes
India failed to secure the expected number of medals at the Asian Games held in Japan. Performances in athletics and badminton—disciplines where high expectations were placed—proved disappointing. In light of this, the Union Ministry of Sports held a review meeting in New Delhi on Thursday to assess India’s performance at the Asiad. During the meeting, questions were also raised regarding how athletes Jyothi Yarraji and Praveen Chithravel, who were suffering from injuries, were granted permission to participate in the Asian Games.
